  1. Place a tomato on a cutting board.

  2. Without applying pressure, glide the knife over the skin.

  3. A sharp knife will pierce and slice the skin effortlessly.

The Paper test.

  1. Hold a thin piece of paper (like newspaper) in one hand.

  1. Use the knife to slice through the edge of the paper.

  2. A sharp knife will glide through smoothly without tearing or snagging.

The Fingernail Test.

(Use with caution!)

  1. Rest the edge of the knife lightly against your fingernail at a slight angle.

  2. A sharp blade will bite gently into the nail without slipping.

  3. Avoid pressing hard or dragging the blade.
